Humanity Research Fellows build an individualized course of study that is focused, flexible, and research-based.
Degree Requirements
Core Requirements (38 hours)
- Chapel (2 semesters)
- Creative Arts Experiences (12)
- REL 1310: The Christian Scriptures
- REL 1350: The Christian Heritage
- PSC 1387: The US Constitution, Its Interpretation, & the American Political Experience
- HIS 1300: The United States in Global Perspective
- ENG 1310: Writing & Academic Inquiry Seminars (designated Humanities Research Fellows section)
- ENG 2310: American Literary Cultures
- Formal Reasoning Distribution List (3 hours)
- Scientific Method I Distribution List (4 hours)
- Foreign Language through the intermediate (2310) level of proficiency
Major Requirements (42 hours)
- PPS 1100: Introduction to Citizenship & Community Service
- HF 2301: Humanities Lab
- HF 4395: Humanities Capstone
- OPTION 1:
- Complete two eighteen-hour minors chosen from the following departments: Art and Art History, Classics, Communications, English, Film and Digital Media, History, Interdisciplinary Programs, Modern Languages and Cultures, Philosophy, Religion, and Theatre
- OPTION 2:
- Complete One eighteen-hour minor (from the following departments: Art and Art History, Classics, Communications, English, Film and Digital Media, History, Interdisciplinary Programs, Modern Languages and Cultures, Philosophy, Religion, and Theatre) and one twelve-hour Arts & Sciences certificate. If this option is selected, six hours of additional humanities electives must be completed.
Maintaining Fellow Status
To remain in and graduate from the program, Fellows must maintain a 3.50 minimum GPA. If released from the program, students must then fulfill the general requirements of the university in addition to the requirements for a major.
